It's highly dependent on the pizza and the pineapple and how it's cooked. In a general sense most of the time I've had pineapple on pizza it's not very good but there are specific instances where it was phenomenal.
First you need to have fresh pineapple. Not that fibrous tough stuff that's not quite ripe yet but beautifully ripe perfectly sweet fresh pineapple. Canned pineapple is just trash you throw in a fruitcake.
Next you need a pizza that's going to be spicy. Not a little bit spicy but we're most people will go oh my God it's very spicy. Generally a very spicy pepperoni works along with some additional hot peppers.
Lastly you need to be able to cook it so the sugars in the pineapple gets caramelized without burning the pizza and without burning the cheese. Once you've accomplished these things you have a very awesome sweet and spicy pizza with pineapple on it.
It is oh so rare to be able to find a pizza like this.
Counterpoint, I have yet to eat a pizza that would not have tasted better with pineapple.
Pineapple is just that fruit, the goat. It improves literally everything it's put with and can be eaten with spices or with dessert.
In fact the only reason I don't eat more pineapple is because it stings my tongue of I eat too much - nature's way of forcing us humans to savor delicacies.
As far as I'm concerned, if the Bible were true and if there really was a fruit that tempted Adam and Eve, it must have been a pineapple.
That's because the bromelain in the pineapple interacts with the proteins of your mouths tissues and convert them into peptides. It's kind of like "digesting" your mouth's walls, which thankfully regenerate quite fast and isn't dangerous :)In fact the only reason I don't eat more pineapple is because it stings my tongue of I eat too much
Hmm, am I weird if I dont like to put it on pizza and cook it? I prefer to enjoy it as a cold side dish with my pizza.
For sheer ease of eating, pineapple rates poorly. I am not a street vendor who can carve up a pineapple in ten seconds, and I am always dismayed at how much is discarded when I am done carving it.
Sorry but what you're referring to is a fruit pie, not a pizza.
Pineapple echoes the tomato structure as well. It's quite genius but requires being misunderstood by most (which maybe is Mullenweg's point lol).
Thank you for giving me a greater appreciation for this. I love pepperoni and pineapple because the sweet and spicy is just perfection.
This is the kind of petty, childish behavior that reflects badly on all involved. I'm too invested in WP to change now, but if I was starting out I'd choose something else.
Even with the weirdness so far, I assumed the title wasn't literal. I was wrong.
I thought this was an Onion article
Same here :)

It would be funny if a user sues WordPress for being forced to acknowledge that pineapple is delicious on pizza because that user is allergic to pineapple.
I'd love for something to come around that has the vast ecosystem of WP but without the atrocious security risks.
From a comment:

I think I disagree, at least to an extent. They are leveraging an open source tool. They made their business built around that tool.
And as for the innocent users--this is such a small impact to users that I am not to worried.
