“Chinese authorities have far-reaching access rights to personal data within the sphere of influence of Chinese companies,”

In China, there is no effective legal wall of separation between "company" and "government".

In other words, if the Chinese "government" wants data from a Chinese "company", there is no legal basis for the "company" to refuse.

Don't take my word for it, just ask JacK Ma --- if you can find him.

Absolutely. How great then, that there is no such risk with US companies and government demands.
